Utian, MD, PhD, DSc(Med) as they discuss "Complexities of a Women's World" with... What is Menopause-Really, Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis, Hormones After Menopause, and Bio-Identicals - Are they Safe. GUEST: Wulf H. Utian is considered to be one of the world’s most significant authorities on menopause and women’s health issues. Dr. Utian is the Executive Director and Honorary Founding President of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS); the Arthur H. Bill Professor Emeritus of Reproductive Biology, Case Western Reserve School of Medicine; Consultant in Gynecology and Women’s Health, Cleveland Clinic; Visiting Professor, University of Cape Town, South Africa (2007-2012); and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Rapid Medical Research, where he is an active research investigator. Previously, he was Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Cleveland, and then at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Chairman of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Utian received his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and his PhD from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In 2007 he earned the DSc(Med) degree from the University of Cape Town, it’s highest degree and awarded only 11 times in over 100 years. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the International College of Surgeons. Dr. Utian is a credentialed NAMS Menopause Practitioner, and is certified in Clinical Densitometry. He is the recipient of multiple research grants. He has studied the metabolic and psychosocial aspects of hormones and menopause for nearly 40 years. During his career, Dr. Utian has written over 200 papers related to women’s health, and has authored five books on menopause. He is the Editor of Menopause, NAMS official scientific journal, and Menopause Management, a NAMS-endorsed publication. Dr. Utian has served on the NAMS Board of Trustees since he founded the Society in 1989. He is also one of the three original Founders in 1976 of the International Menopause Society, of which he is Honorary Past President, and serves on a number of national and international committees. Dr. Utian has been a pioneer in women’s health issues and an innovator in several aspects of advanced reproductive technology. One of the early innovators of infertility microsurgery in the United States, he also developed one of the world’s first successful in vitro fertilization centers. He performed the world’s first surrogate in vitro fertilization procedure in 1984 in Cleveland. Numerous couples credit Dr. Utian with making it possible for them to have families. A dedicated advocate for women’s health, Dr. Utian has achieved national and international recognition for his work and is interviewed regularly by the world’s leading media. He is the recipient of numerous national and international honors and awards. Fenster of "Destiny Maker-Helping Children and Adults with Epilepsy" as they discuss "Ace the Race of Life 4" with... The Road Trip of 2009, DestinyMaker 2009, The Future of Destiny, and The Final Destination. GUEST: Glenn A Fenster's inspiration and reason for this ambitious undertaking is his 14 year-old son, Nyle, who has suffered from acute epilepsy since he was just two years old. Glenn is riding to show his son that no matter what the disability, everyone has the capacity to reach for their dreams. He does not ride just for his son, but for other kids and adults living with epilepsy. In 2006 Glenn biked 4036 miles from Seattle Washington to Miami Florida, to promote epilepsy awareness, with the support of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. In 2007 Glenn's ride from Alaska added another 2500 miles to his journey along with the challenges of the ‘northern climate’, which can be unpredictable and definitely much colder then what he experienced previously. According to Mr. Fenster, “This trip pales in comparison to the courage my son and others exhibit each day”. In 2008 Glenn's 3rd annual ride was 8100 miles from Denver to Miami (the long way). As some of you may know, I will begin in late April my 4th annual North America bike ride for epilepsy awareness. This 5800 mile ride will take me from my home in South Florida to Maine. Then into Canada toward Halifax in hopes of meeting a little girl named Cassidy who has asked the world to wear purple on March 26th. After I will make my way west toward Chicago to meet up with Idea League an Organization that helps those with Dravet's Syndrome, a sever form of Epilepsy. On my way I will stop in cities large and small. I will go contact every newspaper and TV station along the way. This will be my first time starting from Florida. My route though not clearly defined as of yet is posted @ www.destinymaker.org. GUEST: Dr. Gary W. Digby was born in Fulton, Mississippi, I am the youngest of three brothers. Annette Dulaney, also from Fulton, and I were united in marriage, August 7, 1971. Both of us graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in secondary education. After surrendering to the gospel ministry in June 1977, I enrolled at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee where I received the Master of Divinity Degree in 1981, and later, the Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1991. While attending seminary, I began pastoring my first church in 1978. During the past thirty years, I have served as pastor of churches in Mississippi, Arkansas, and New York. Also, from 1991-1993, I served as Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas. Presently, Annette and I live in Jefferson City, Missouri where I serve as the interim pastor for a local congregation and Annette is employed at Lincoln University in Jefferson City as the Vice-President for Academic Affairs/Provost.
